OLD vs The NEW

CHANGE : It's The Only CONSTANT in Our lives.

From Old to New - until the New - sooner or later turns Old giving way to another New

Is that it? Or Are We missing Something over here?

DO things actually turn Old ?

Does Their value truly Decrease ?

Is Time so cruel to Everything on Earth ?

I like to look at it as a Circle.

..with A LIMITED Circular Border,
Where All the New stuff originates from the Dead center of the circle
joining the ever long moving chain.

As New innovations rise..
- The "Not New anymore" stuff gets pushed further Away from the center..

Their value in the world although decreases But They Are still as much relevant to current times -
As long as they remain IN The Chain of Circle.

While the ones falling out of the Circle.. - meaning The things -
NOT AT ALL relevant to the present time & age Anymore Only They MUST be termed OLD or Vintage in their true sense.

This includes things which cannot change or be changed, cannot adapt or be adapted to suit our current time and requirements.

Yet if you Hold on to them for a hundred years down the line, you become a millionaire.

OLD Things lose value only to regain it BIG TIME decades later as - Classic Vintage.

Well, a much deserved respect for merely standing up to the test of time.

Now What about the things That Are Timeless?

Things that No matter What Just Don't fall out of the circle.

The things that find relevance in EVERY time, age and evolutionary process..

They might Not be the latest New,
But neither Are They worthless to be termed Old.

Things that change or can be changed / adapt or can be made to adapt as per changing tastes.

Even the Things which were although made Back then But Are still relevant today..

- Art for example, music, films, literature etc.

- Timeless pieces of crafts flowing from one generation to another never losing it's essence or it's unique taste.

Basically the things still within the Circle of New.

Old but Gold as They say.

In today's time the definition of New Not necessarily means the Best.

New today is what is highly attractive to the majority,
Cost effective *low in cost* & what's easily accessible.

You buy a product for an X amount.

After sometime,
a New one is launched for an X + Y amount.

Advertisers *obviously* marketing The New one as the company's Best product..

- One You "Absolutely" "Must" Have.

But in reality,
It's You & your decision that puts Real value to the product's + Y amount.

Stop.

Think for once.

Is the price worth the changes they've made ?

Do i really need it ?

How much more will it help me better my tasks compared to my current product ?

& lastly..

Are tasks really Done Better or Are they worsened ?

On the contrary,
Today It's the Dumbest thing to repair an Old device by spending much,
Especially when you're using it on a day to day basis.

..With Absolutely NO guarantee it shall reliably suit Your current needs, rather replace it with a New one That Will.

But then,
Technology Not always improves for the better.

Sometimes it's the quality
sometimes reliability which is compromised to fit the right costs..

- again making it affordable to the general masses.

It's Business at the end of the day.

Apple Inc. confessing to purposely slowing down it's older generation iPhones,

1) Because Old iPhones cannot cope up with The "Newer" versions of IOS.

2) Because The company wants it's users to Buy New iPhones - A Smart business strategy.

- Still remains a debatable issue.

Just like Films which were ones shot on Celluloid, Today Are shot on Digital

Why??

Because ; Easy to Shoot, Process, Cut, Distribute, Modify etc.. etc..

The Catch ??

Quality of the picture remains compromised

Nearly impossible to Archive or store it over a limited time period,

Lack of Frame Depth ;

An artificial viewing experience meaning lesser the personal connect with it's audience.

Points that defeat the TRUE purpose of Cinema.

(left : shot on digital, right : shot on film)

There is a snap crackle and pop to film that goes missing in digital.

I believe film controls highlights really well,

Blends light & color better & has
an aesthetically pleasing grain of a texture to it.

A lot of people who have not shot on film really don’t see it which is okay because its not their fault we Are in a digital age anyways.

But there is something about the dimension you get from the film emulsion.

In pic, PVR P(XL)

Theaters with 4K Dual Projection
*meaning clearer picture & more frame depth*,
*Bigger than normal cinema screen - Not as Big as IMAX though*
Plus Dolby Atmos surround sound *More speakers at the sides, at the back & overhead for an immersive feel*

- In short,
Cinematic experience @ it's BEST
& it's Indian.

When technology evolves, It is utmost necessary there Must always Be the Right BALANCE.

- balance between the Old and the New, Only then can it be termed New in it's true sense.

Launching something Totally Different preceded by NONE..
- That is a New Invention.

Where Later versions of it Are expected to maintain the right balance between upgrades & it's older features.

That's Progress ;

Building Up on the Old.. Rather than simply discarding it's essence.

If Change is The Only CONSTANT..

Balance
Is The Constant of All Changes.

OLD & NEW ?..
It's Your Point of view.
